The Italian NGO Group for the CRC is a member of the NGO Group for the CRC and of CRIN (Child Rights Information Network).

From 2004 a delegation from the Italian NGO Group for the CRC has been attending the Day of General Discussion , the annual day organized by the UN Committee in Geneva to foster a deeper understanding of the contents and implications of the Convention as thay relate to specific articles or topics.

In 2008 the Italian NGO Group for the CRC contributed to the monitoring process of the Convention on the elimination of racial discrimination CERD-> http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/cerd/]: a delegation of the Italian NGO Group for the CRC, in synergy with the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, presented to the members of the Committee, during a Lunch Time Briefing, an [extract of the 3th CRC Report tackling the issue of racial discrimination against children.

On 8th September 2009, the Italian NGO Group for the CRC sent to the United Nation its Submission for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a new and unique mechanism of the United Nations which started in April 2008 and consisting of the review of the human rights practices of all States in the world, once every four years.

The Italian NGO Group for the CRC sent to the Office of the High Commission on Human Rights – OHCHR a paper concerning the state of implementation of the rights of the child in Italy.

Italy will be examined on 9th February 2010, during Session 7.

Since 2005 a delegation of the Italian NGO Group for the CRC has been attended the NGO Forum for national child rights coalitions that took place in Brussels in 2005 and in Bucharest in 2008.

In 2010, the Italian NGO Group for the CRC will host the 6th Regional Meeting of NGOs Children’s Rights Coalitions in Europe

In 2009, the Italian NGO Group for the CRC sent to the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education, Vernor Muñoz, an abstract of 2nd Supplementary Report to the CRC concerning the issue of the Right to Education for foreign children.

The anual report to be presented to the Human Rights Council in 2010, will focus on the right to education of migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers, and Vernoz Muñoz has asked to NGOs to present their experiences, concerns and thoughts in the provision of education for migrants, refugees and/or asylum seekers.
